Frequently Asked Questions
By installing glass systems in the walls of a canopy, you create a comfortable and sheltered space. Glass walls transform a terrace cover into a garden room — a space designed for year-round use. Transparent glass preserves clear views of the surroundings while providing protection from wind and weather. Sheltered and intimate on breezy days, comfortably warm when temperatures drop.
For a four-season garden room, double-glazed sliding glass walls, motorised double-glazed parapet systems and a well-sealing aluminium door are most commonly selected. Single-glazed sliding glass doors are also used. When combined with terrace heating, the space remains comfortable even during colder winter days. For enclosing an insulated conservatory or extension, thermally broken folding glass walls are typically chosen to retain warmth within the garden room.
Yes. CORNELS canopies are designed to be expanded later with CORNELS glass walls. If you wish to spread the investment, you can start by installing the CORNELS canopie and enclose the structure with CORNELS enclosures at a later stage.
Yes. CORNELS glass walls are highly suitable for interior applications. Our sliding glass walls and folding glass walls are regularly installed in indoor environments. They are often used to create a segmented layout in open-plan offices and meeting spaces. High-end hospitality venues also favour these solutions, for example to divide or combine event spaces as needed.
In addition, glass walls are used to subdivide spacious terrace covers into more intimate sections, particularly for hospitality settings. This allows for the creation of cosy, enclosed areas for private groups. Especially during colder weather, these smaller segments are easier to heat efficiently with terrace heating.
Glass walls offer a unique combination of maximum transparency, comfort and flexibility that other enclosures simply cannot match. Where solid walls, timber screens or aluminium panels restrict light and views, glass walls preserve the outdoor experience in its purest form.
The key advantages at a glance:
- Maximum daylight and uninterrupted views
Glass walls allow natural light to flow freely while maintaining panoramic views of the garden, terrace or surrounding landscape. The result is a space that feels larger, lighter and more refined. - Outdoor living, all year round
Protection from wind, rain and cooler temperatures without losing the connection to the outdoors. When closed, the space becomes a comfortable garden room; when opened, it seamlessly transforms back into an open terrace. - Exceptional flexibility
Glass systems can be slid, folded or fully opened, allowing the space to adapt effortlessly to every season and every moment of the day. - Clean, timeless aesthetics
Glass integrates perfectly with contemporary architecture and high-end outdoor spaces. No visual barriers, just a sleek, minimalist appearance. - Durable and low maintenance
High-quality safety glass is strong, weather-resistant and easy to clean. Unlike timber or fabric solutions, it retains its appearance for years to come.
In short: Glass walls combine the protection of an enclosure with the freedom of the outdoors. They do not close off a space — they create an elegant transition between inside and out.
Yes. All CORNELS glass wall systems are developed for smooth, intuitive and comfortable use. Each system features its own elegant method of operation:
- Sliding glass walls
The panels glide lightly and quietly along a high-quality bottom track. A single smooth movement is all it takes. - Folding glass walls
The panels fold open in one fluid motion, creating a completely unobstructed opening. Depending on the chosen configuration, the panels can fold inwards or outwards. Multiple layouts and opening options are available. - Motorised glass parapetsystems
The glass panels move seamlessly up or down via an app or remote control. Each system can be operated individually or all balustrades simultaneously. Partial opening or fully open — all at the touch of a button. - Freestanding height-adjustable glass wind screens
Manually operated by gently pushing down the top panel, allowing it to slide out. To retract, simply slide the extendable panel back in by hand. The version with wheels can easily be repositioned to any area of the terrace where wind protection is desired.
Whichever solution you choose, operation with CORNELS always feels light, refined and premium — perfectly aligned with luxury outdoor living.
If you have a complete year-round canopie with glass systems, we recommend using a mild cleaning agent for regular maintenance. As an additional tip, we advise using osmosis water. Osmosis water cleans glass streak-free, often making the use of other cleaning products unnecessary.
