At Restaurant De Waldhoorn in Otterlo, products from the CORNELS® Collection were selected to transform the available outdoor space into a comfortable terrace for every season. The combination of the award-winning POLLUX CORNELS® Elite series with retractable louvres, SIRIUS CORNELS® Glass motorised glass balustrades and KUMA CORNELS® Glass framed glass doors creates an all-season hospitality terrace that blends seamlessly with the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the location.

Award winner

The POLLUX CORNELS® Elite series, winner of the Z&R Award 2026 for Best Outdoor Shading Product, offers flexibility on sun-drenched days as well as in rain and colder weather. The terrace canopy provides shade, shelter and the option of natural ventilation. Thanks to the fully retractable aluminium louvres, the terrace effortlessly transforms from a completely open outdoor space into a 100% watertight terrace canopy.

When the louvres are being retracted, they can also be stopped in a tilted position. This creates an elegant interplay of shade, daylight and ventilation.

Connection with the surroundings

The motorised glass balustrades provide shelter from wind without compromising the open character of the terrace. The framed glass doors provide practical access and strengthen the connection between indoors and outdoors. Together, the glass systems create a fluid transition towards the surrounding environment.

Somfy io control

For additional ease of use, the terrace solution is equipped with Somfy io control. Each louvred canopy and each motorised glass balustrade can be operated individually. In addition, preset scenarios can be created, allowing all canopies to be opened or closed at once, partial openings to be set and specific zones to be controlled separately.

This enables the team at the hospitality venue to adapt the terrace easily to every moment of the day and to changing weather conditions.

Brand colour scheme

The terrace canopy has been fully finished in De Waldhoorn’s brand colours. The green aluminium structure with cream-coloured louvres reflects the identity of the restaurant and enhances the warm, natural atmosphere of the location. Combined with the planting on and around the terrace, it creates a calm, green setting where guests immediately feel welcome. Warm, inviting and perfectly suited to the Veluwe.
